Gate drivers are buffer circuits used to amplify low voltage or low current from a microcontroller or other sources. In some cases, when driving logic level transistors for digital signal transmission, the use of microcontroller outputs does not compromise the efficiency, size, or thermal performance of the application. In high power applications, microcontroller outputs are generally not suitable for driving transistors with large power.
