AC/DC converters are devices that change alternating current into direct current. The power flow direction can be bidirectional. The power flow from the power supply to the load is called rectification, and the power flow from the load back to the power supply is called active inverter. Transmission losses (energy losses) can be reduced by transmitting AC voltages in a high-voltage, low-current manner.
