Radio frequency (RF) monitoring is an online monitoring method for diagnosing generator anomalies, which are caused by winding insulation deterioration, copper wire fatigue fracture, or gap reduction between components with different potentials in the operating generator. The micro arc discharge will generate high-frequency voltage and current in the neutral line of the generator. Rf monitoring can detect and identify specific frequency components and levels of these high frequency currents.
